🌿 Why I Started My Aide In Life
💔 A Daughter’s Heart, A Father’s Legacy
When my dad passed away in 2004, I just wanted to be there for my mom. I offered to help, to support, to show up in any way I could. But she turned to my sister instead—and I was devastated.
That rejection hurt me deeply. I felt useless, like I had failed in what I believed was my role as a daughter: to nurture, to protect, to be present.
At the same time, I was grieving something bigger. My dad never got the chance to enjoy retirement. He spent his life providing for our family—often away from home, missing everyday moments. Years later, we learned he had suffered multiple silent heart attacks, quietly enduring pain to shield us.
It made me ask:
What are we doing with the time we have left? What really matters?

💡 From Hospitality to Human Connection
After 40 years in the hospitality industry—leading teams, managing projects, and delivering exceptional service—I knew I had more to give. I was proud of what I’d accomplished, but something was missing: meaning.
Two conversations planted the seed:
-
A woman facing a cancer diagnosis.
-
A daughter overwhelmed with caregiving for her mother with dementia.
-
Their words stayed with me. I didn’t know what the idea would become—but I knew I wanted to create something that mattered. Something that could truly make a difference.
🤝 Building the Kind of Support I Wish Existed
As I looked around, I noticed a gap. Many seniors weren’t getting the kind of care they truly needed—not medical care, but emotional support, consistency, companionship.
Too many were:
-
Quietly coping with illness or isolation
-
Too proud to ask for help
-
Too overwhelmed to even know where to start
These were the people I resonated with most.
And that’s how My Aide In Life was born—as a way to fill in those missing pieces.
